It’s our favorite day of the year! While Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park remains closed due to Hurricane Helene, our beloved Groundhog Day tradition continues, thanks to a generous partnership with Tryon International Equestrian Center.
Groundhog Day 2025 Schedule
12-2pm: Arrive early at Tryon International and enjoy family-friendly activities as we await Tater’s big prediction, including encounters with Chimney Rock’s animal ambassadors and park naturalists, groundhog-themed activities, ice skating, and carousel rides. Shop WNC Main Street for an opportunity to support storm-affected businesses, and grab a bite to eat at one of Tryon’s many delicious restaurants.
1:30pm: Tater the Groundhog will make his appearance to forecast the arrival of spring as well as Super Bowl LIX winners. Will he call for six more weeks of winter or is spring just around the corner? We will find out as Chimney Rock Village Mayor Peter O’Leary will translate his prediction.
Location
Tryon International Equestrian Center
25 International Boulevard, Mill Spring, NC 28756
Can’t make it in person? The event will also be livestreamed on our Facebook page starting at 1:30pm.
