Thursday, December 1
Kick off the holidays with the final installment of Chimney Rock’s brand new wine and design-style paint series of the year. Join a professional local artist and celebrate NC State Parks’ Year of the Tree by creating your own striking portrait of a winter tree. Classes will be held at the Old Rock Café. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase local craft beer & wine as well as appetizers.
Saturday, December 3
Join Santa’s elves for a festive breakfast and see what’s on the menu every morning at the North Pole! The elves will be serving up very special holiday pancakes for kids and kids-at-heart, and classic breakfast favorites will round out the menu. Warm up with a cup of coffee at the Old Rock, then head to the Park and watch Santa prepare for Christmas Eve by rappelling down the 315-foot Chimney Rock!

Chimney Rock has become Santa’s favorite place to train for his big night of deliveries. After a long summer, what better place to prepare and stay in shape than on one of the world’s largest chimneys at Chimney Rock State Park? Write a letter to Santa, enjoy live holiday music, hot cocoa, cookies, photo ops with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and meet live Park animal ambassadors.

Want to learn more about the fastest-growing hobby in America? Join a naturalist for this walk specifically designed to help beginners learn how to spot and identify different species of birds. The winter scenery is the perfect backdrop for finding our feathered friends among the bare trees. As a spot on the NC Birding Trail, Chimney Rock is the perfect place to fall in love with bird watching.
Saturday, December 17
Join Namaste in Nature for a reflective meditation walk off the beaten path and away from the crowds. De-stress on this hike focused on connecting with yourself and the natural world. This fall mindfulness experience will center on rest and reflection as winter falls on the Park.

Did you know our staff had a wild side? Join a Park naturalist to meet some of our live Animal Ambassadors and learn what kind of wildlife inhabits the Park and their important roles in the ecosystem. Some of our best teachers have feathers, fur, shells or scales!
